WEBEDI is an application in the Volvo Group Supplier Portal that offers instant communication and the transfer of EDI messages as a web-based solution. Suppliers that currently are not EDI capable or have fewer deliveries can use it to exchange electronic documents such as Invoices. In WebEDI the messages are structured as plain text therefore are easy to read but the messages are manually handled.
WebEDI is specifically intended to meet the needs of small Volvo Group suppliers with lower volume demands. It is also used as a temporary solution until the Supplier is prepared to transition to EDIFACT.
In order to use WebEDI the Supplier should first get access to Supplier Portal.
To request access to Supplier Portal and WebEDI please contact your Volvo Group buyer.
The Volvo Group plant sends the Delivery Schedule to the Supplier with delivery details such as part numbers, quantities, ship to’s etc.
The Supplier can view the Delivery Schedules and export them in csv/excel files for administration purposes.
The Supplier creates the Despatch Advice/ASN manually, which is sent to the Volvo Group plant.
The Transport Label is being generated in WebEDI, the Supplier is printing the Labels and places them on the shipment.
The Supplier creates the Invoices based on a delivery. If the specific Volvo Group plant is not connected to WebEDI, the Supplier should send their Invoices by paper/PDF. Once the Volvo Group plant is connected to WebEDI, a switch is made from paper/PDF to Web Invoices. The EDI Team sends a production e-mail as a confirmation to the Supplier to inform about the connection and the switch from paper/PDF to Web Invoices. Once the switch is made, and WebEDI connection is established for the specific plant, the Supplier should send the Invoices only via WebEDI. Status of the sent Invoice can be checked in VVI at the Supplier Portal.
